NCDHHS HBCUs/MSIs Internship in the Division of Public Health is a component of the department’s workforce development initiative that encourages college students to seek public health and government careers. Change Champions 2023 is a hard working to analyze problems worked with teams to develop solutions. I had a wonderful time with amazing people. With my knowledge, I can achieve a high status in Public Health.

North Carolina GlaxoSmithKline Foundation 2024 Summer Research Program at East Carolina University

The GlaxoSmithKline Summer Research at East Carolina University offers an exciting opportunity for undergraduate students to engage in impactful activities that foster valuable social and professional networks. Our innovative approach involves the study of spider venom protein sequences and 3D structures using AlphaFold, along with the exploration of PnTx3-6 venom's potential in preventing cell death following ischemic injury. Through this research, we aim to develop therapeutic proteins and expedite the discovery of novel drug candidates for the treatment of ischemic stroke.

Epilepsy Foundation Internship

This Is Me: Uncovering the Epilepsy Epidemic Among Black Women project focuses on addressing the unique challenges faced by Black women aged 18-25 living with epilepsy. Through personal experiences, key informant interviews, and survey research, the project highlights healthcare barriers such as limited access to neurology services, mental health therapy, and affordable treatments. Involvement with the Epilepsy Foundation includes impactful events at Howard University, Seizure First Aid training, and the national epilepsy walk, raising awareness and fostering community support. By amplifying voices and driving advocacy, this initiative strives toward equitable healthcare and lasting change.
